The suddenly slumping Los Angeles Dodgers look to snap a losing skid as Yoshinobu Yamamoto takes the mound against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday.
Winners of four of their last five games, the Arizona Diamondbacks continue their road trip on Tuesday night in the second game of their three-game set against the Los Angeles Dodgers as spot starter Ryne Nelson (1-1, 5.13 ERA) makes his second start of the year against a Dodgers offense that has struggled to find consistency at the plate. The Dodgers will send second-year right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto (5-3, 2.12 ERA) to the mound in search of his third win in four starts off his two worst starts of the season by allowing eight earned runs in 11 innings of work. He allowed just four earned runs in his first seven outings combined.

Leading Major League Baseball with 17 home runs this season, Dodgers superstar designated hitter Shohei Ohtani has five home runs in his last six games after belting his 10th dinger of May in Monday’s series opening loss to Arizona. Ohtani, who last season became the first player in MLB history to hit 50 or more home runs and steal 50 or more bases in a single season, is on pace for his fourth career 40-homer campaign. The 30-year-old Oshu, Japan native is two RBIs away from 600 for his career and is eight home runs away from 250 in his first eight seasons in the majors.
The Diamondbacks tandem of right fielder Corbin Carroll and third baseman Eugenio Suarez have each hit 14 home runs this season, with Suarez leading the team with 38 RBIs and Carroll posting six of Arizona’s nine triples this season. Caroll ranks third in MLB with 119 total bases and trails only Ohtani among National League hitters.
Since sweeping the Dodgers out of the playoffs in 2023, Arizona has split the series 9-9 against Los Angeles, but has won five of the last six meetings on the road.
