It’s prospect season again. This morning we are kicking off the Cincinnati Reds Top 25 Prospects List. Each day this week we will unveil five new spots on the list, working our way through the best 25 prospects in the organization. If you were supporting the site on Patreon then you would have already been able to see the entire Top 25 list last week and had early access to this and plenty of other benefits throughout the year. Click here to see what all you can get for helping keep the site alive and kicking via support through Patreon.
These write ups will not feature full scouting reports. Those will be included with the Season Reviews, which will start next week – first working my way through the Top 25 prospects before then branching out into another group of 20-25 prospects that are outside of that top 25 through the remainder of the offseason.
*To be eligible for the list a player must have 2026 Rookie of the Year eligibility (Fewer than 130 at bats in the big leagues, fewer than 50 innings pitched, or less than 45 days on the active MLB roster)*
All ages listed are as of April 1st, 2026
21. Arnaldo Lantigua | OF | Age: 20
2025 Teams: ACL Reds/Daytona Tortugas | Acquired: Trade (Dodgers, 2025) | Height: 6′ 2″ | Weight: 200 lbs | B/T: R/R
What to like: He’s got plenty of power potential, hits the ball hard, and at a young age he’s already shown that he can get to that power in games.
What he needs to improve on: An improved approach at the plate. While his strikeout rate isn’t overly high, when combined with a below-average walk rate there’s some work that could be done to bring those two numbers closer to each other.

22. Angel Salio | 3B | Age: 18
2025 Team: DSL Rojos | Acquired: International FA, 2025 | Height: 6′ 2″ | Weight: 170 lbs | B/T: L/R
What to like: He had an outstanding professional debut. As a 17-year-old he hit for a high average, showed a lot of extra-base power, and walked more than he struck out.
What he needs to work on: Defense. He had a .900 fielding percentage this past season. On top of that he’s just got to continue to improve – he’s just 17 and was at the lowest level of the minors.

23. Alfredo Alcantara | INF | Age: 20
2025 Teams: ACL Reds/Daytona | Acquired: International FA, 2023 | Height: 5′ 9″ | Weight: 165 lbs | B/T: R/R
What to like: After a down year in 2024 he made big strides at the plate as he cut down his strikeout rate by more than a third and maintained a very high walk rate. He showed real good power in 38 games in the Florida State League, and flashed some impressive exit velocities.
What he needs to work on: Elevating the ball. In 2025 his groundball rate jumped up to 49% on the season.

24. Zach Maxwell | RHP | Age: 25
2025 Teams: Louisville/Cincinnati | Acquired: 6th Round, 2022 Draft | Height: 6′ 6″ | Weight: 275 lbs | B/T: R/R
What to like: He throws harder than 99% of professional pitchers on the planet. He also strikes out a lot of hitters.
What he needs to work on: Throwing strikes. While his control has improved since he was drafted, he is still walking more hitters than will allow him to find success in the big leagues.

25. Mason Neville | OF | Age: 22
2025 Team: Daytona | Acquired: 4th Round, 2025 Draft | Height: 6′ 3″ | Weight: 210 lbs | B/T: L/R
What to like: He has a well rounded set of tools with plus power potential standing out above the rest of his tools. Still, he’s go good speed and defense to go with a strong arm.
What he needs to work on: Making contact. He had a high strikeout rate in college and followed that up with a 34% strikeout rate in his limited time after the draft in Single-A Daytona.
