Will the Toronto Blue Jays find a way to keep Bo Bichette around in the long term after making a run to the World Series this fall?

This is going to be the most talked-about topic around Toronto until Bichette puts pen to paper — whether that is with the Blue Jays or not. He’s just 27 years old and is already a two-time All-Star and has led the American League in hits twice as well. It’s hard to find a guy like Bichette and to make the conversation even bigger, he’s a homegrown star in Toronto after being selected in the second round of the 2016 Major League Baseball Draft.

The Blue Jays have been lucky to have him and one thing that should have Toronto fans’ attention is the fact that USA Today MLB insider Bob Nightengale reported that the current expectation is that Bichette will remain in town.

“Bichette, who was expected to depart Toronto a year ago and whose name surfaced a year ago in trade talks now is expected to stay put to complete their goodwill tour,” Nightengale said.

The only guarantee in the MLB offseason is that there are going to be rumors and chatter left and right on every side of any conversation. For example, Steve Simmons of the Toronto Sun reported that Bichette has quietly told people he would be open to going to New York if a deal with the Blue Jays doesn’t work out.

The MLB Winter Meetings won’t begin until the beginning of December. Each year, that is typically when big deals start to get done. So, with that being said, expect a lot more buzz around Bichette over the next few weeks. This is a good update from Nightengale, though.
