2025 Milwaukee Brewers player grades

Here are our Milwaukee Brewers player grades for 2025, based on analysis by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Brewers beat writers Todd Rosiak and Curt Hogg.

The season began for Caleb Durbin at Class AAA in Nashville, where he found himself after not making the opening day roster in large part because of a spring training in which he played concerning defense.

It wrapped up with the Milwaukee Brewers third baseman taking third place in voting for National League rookie of the year after having solidified himself as an everyday big-leaguer with both bat and glove.

In total, four Brewers players received votes. Durbin finished behind the unsurprising winner, Atlanta Braves catcher and Madison West High School product Drake Baldwin, and Chicago Cubs right-hander Cade Horton.

Brewers outfielder Isaac Collins, who was in contention to win the award before fading in the final month of the regular season, took fourth, while right-hander Chad Patrick was seventh and right-hander Jacob Misiorowski received one fourth-place vote to finish 11th.

It’s a fitting synopsis of the Brewers’ season, one in which unexpected rookie contributions played a critical role as they won a franchise-record 97 games. Milwaukee led the National League in WAR from rookies, finishing with a total of 9.8, according to FanGraphs.

In the postseason, rookies were among Milwaukee’s top performers. Patrick and Misiorowski, who at one point was the odds-on favorite to win rookie of the year following his torrid start to his big-league career, were arguably the two most valuable players in the team’s five-game National League Divisional Series win over the Cubs. Durbin went 8 for 29 at the plate with two doubles, a triple and three stolen bases in the postseason, including having four of the team’s 14 hits in a disastrous National League Championship Series sweep at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Caleb Durbin

During the regular season, Durbin, acquired from the New York Yankees along with Nestor Cortes for Devin Williams last offseason, was the best of the rookie bunch. He overcame a slow start upon his April 18 call-up, one that saw his OPS dip to .501 on May 22 after 30 games, to slash .256/.334/.387 with 11 home runs and 18 stolen bases. Durbin hit .278 over his final 106 games while solidifying his spot as the regular third baseman, where he was worth five defensive runs saved.

Isaac Collins

Collins finished the year batting .263 with a .779 OPS across 130 games, going from the last man on the roster on opening day to the regular left fielder by the end of the first half. On Aug. 11, one day after launching a walk-off homer to beat the New York Mets, Collins had a .846 OPS but scuffled to the tune of a .595 OPS down the stretch.

Chad Patrick

Patrick appeared in 27 games, making 23 starts, for the Brewers. Like Collins, Patrick made the opening day roster by virtue of injuries elsewhere on the roster and ultimately stabilized the rotation for the first three months of the season. He finished with a 3.53 earned run average with 127 strikeouts in 119 2/3 innings.

Jacob Misiorowski

Misiorowski took the league by storm through his first five starts, being named to the all-star team in large part because of the buzz he generated from 11 no-hit innings to begin his career, but struggles down the stretch resulted in a final 4.36 ERA. In the postseason, though, Misiorowski was the winning pitcher in two of the Brewers’ three NLDS victories, striking out 16 and allowing two earned runs in 12 innings in October.
