Jensen Hirschkorn has found a home.
Hirschkorn, one of the top 30 baseball recruits in the nation, announced his commitment to Louisiana State University via a social media post on Oct. 30.
The 17-year-old Kingsburg native and standout said that he felt comfortable instantly, which is why he chose LSU.
“The coaches and I have created great relationships and they’re the best in the game,” Hirschkorn said. “They’re in Omaha playing almost every year. Loved the campus and really excited to play at Alex Box Stadium.”
Baseball is in Hirschkorn’s blood. His father, Oscar, has been the head baseball coach at Fresno Pacific University since the inception of the program at FPU in 2006. Jensen is currently a senior at Kingsburg High School.
“I just love the competitiveness and with my Dad as a college coach I’ve always loved it and this has been my dream since I first started playing,” Hirschkorn said.
Hirschkorn, who is 6-foot-7 and throws a 97 mph fast ball, is rated as the number one pitcher in the state of California and the 24th overall ranked player in the nation, according to Baseball America, in the Class of 2026. He is also projected to be high round draft pick in the 2026 Major League Baseball draft. Currently he is ranked as the 35th best prospect overall.
In his junior year at Kingsburg High in 2024-2025, Hirschkorn went 5-1 with a 1.66 ERA on the mound. He had 65 strikeouts in just 33 innings pitched. He also led the team at the plate batting .443 with 31 RBIs and six homeruns.
He says being able to represent his hometown of Kingsburg is something special.
“It means everything to me just to represent this town and to know that I have a huge community behind me supporting me,” Hirschkorn said. “I’m super thankful and am very blessed to be in the situation I’m in today. God gifted me with this talent and all the work I’ve put in has paid off. Just super thankful.”
