TOKYO — While Yoshinobu Yamamoto, a Los Angeles Dodger and right-handed pitcher from Japan, missed out on winning the Cy Young Award, the top accolade for the best starting pitcher in U.S. Major League Baseball on Wednesday, he is yet another example of a player from the Japanese league excelling on the other side of the Pacific.
