Buck O’Neil is born in Carrabelle, Florida.
John Jordan O’Neil Jr. was an American first baseman and manager in the Negro American League, mostly with the Kansas City Monarchs.
He was nicknamed ‘Buck’ after the co-owner of the Miami Giants.
O’Neil became the first African-American coach in major league baseball.
