Georgia, the No. 5 seed at the SEC tournament, comes off its bye to face 12-seed Oklahoma on Wednesday.

Georgia (42-14) comes off its bye at the SEC Baseball Tournament, with the fifth-seed Bulldogs taking on No. 12 seed Oklahoma (34-19) on Wednesday afternoon at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium. The Sooners finished 14-16 in SEC play, while Georgia was 18-12. The Bulldogs are looking for a second straight trip to the NCAA tournament and haven’t reached the College World Series since 2008. Oklahoma, playing in its first SEC tournament, has a string of three straight NCAA tournament bids and played in the 2022 CWS, finishing runner-up. Wednesday’s winner moves on to take on fourth-seed Vanderbilt in a Thursday night quarterfinal.

James Hitt delivered four innings of shutout relief as the Sooners beat Kentucky 5-1 in a first round matchup on Tuesday. Jason Walk erased a 1-0 deficit with a two-run home run in the bottom of the third and Easton Carmichael capped the three-run frame with an RBI single. Carmichael slashes .324/.389/.601 with team-highs of 14 homers and 55 RBIs, while Dawson Willis leads the club with 18 stolen bases.

Georgia closed its season by taking two of three from visiting Texas A&M last weekend. Robbie Burnett fuels the offense with a .318/.492/.732 slash line to go with 20 home runs and 66 RBIs — both team highs. He also leads the squad with 17 stolen bases.

The Bulldogs will open with right-hander JT Quinn (1-1), who has a 2.25 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 15 appearances, five of them starts, while striking out 37 hitters in 28 innings. Oklahoma goes with right-hander Kyson Witherspoon (9-3), who led the SEC with a 2.48 ERA to go with a 0.94 WHIP in 14 starts, striking out 112 in 83.1 innings.
