COLUMBUS GROVE, Ohio (WLIO) — The Bulldogs are playing on brand-new surfaces this season, as both the Columbus Grove baseball and softball fields now feature newly installed turf infields.
The upgrade was made possible through support from the Columbus Grove Local School District, Todd Herman and the Grove community. The project, which spanned two years and totaled $6,000, was fully funded by the James Earl Belch Charitable Trust.
The turf installation is expected to help the fields better withstand rainy conditions and reduce the number of weather-related cancellations throughout the spring.
A dedication ceremony honoring James Earl Belch is scheduled for March 30 next year, just before the baseball and softball teams take the field for their first home games of the season.
