Los Angeles Dodgers utility man and current free agent Kiké Hernandez announced he underwent surgery on his elbow on Friday.
The veteran played through the injury he sustained in May for the whole season, causing the injury to worsen. He will not play in the World Baseball Classic in 2026, which will take place in Puerto Rico.
The Dodgers are in for a lot of changes this offseason, and will need to add a few names to remain at the pinnacle of MLB. One such move could be in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals for Brendan Donovan.
“Infielder Brendon Donovan, who is arbitration-eligible for two more years, is also drawing a lot of interest and seems likely to be traded,” MLB.com’s Mark Feinsand wrote. “The Yankees, Dodgers, Royals and Guardians are among the teams believed to be potential landing spots for Donovan.”
Justin Dean joined the San Francisco Giants after the Dodgers put him on waivers following the World Series, and he took to Instagram to share a message to the Dodgers and their fans after his departure.
“Thank you LA for changing my life!” Dean wrote.
