The Philadelphia Phillies need outfield help, and could explore the trade market to find upgrades. Nick Castellanos is reportedly on the trade block, and Harrison Bader, who was added at the trade deadline, is a free agent.

There are plenty of viable options for the Phillies this winter, including Bader. However, FanSided’s Jake Elman suggested the Phillies should trade for Luis Robert Jr. Robert is an interesting player who has shown some inconsistencies with the White Sox. However, perhaps playing on a winning team could get him back to playing like an All-Star.

“The thought of Robert playing for the Phillies has made sense for a couple of years now,” wrote Elman. “The only question is how much patience Phillies fans will have for Robert’s lack of plate discipline; he’s averaged a 29.3% strikeout percentage since 2023, topping out at a ghastly 33.2% in 2024.”

Robert signed a six-year, $50 million deal before ever making his debut. The Chicago White Sox picked up his $20 million club option for the next season. He has another $20 million option for 2027. He was an All-Star in 2023, hitting 38 home runs and carrying an .857 OPS.

Last season, he posted a .661 OPS in 110 games. Injuries have been a concern with Robert. He has had one real healthy season, and he was an All-Star. He played in 110 games last season, dealing with hamstring problems. While his overall numbers were not great, he ended his season playing very well.

In his final 31 games, he had a .298/.352/.456 slash line. Robert could slot in as the Phillies center fielder if Bader leaves. He is not cheap, but the Phillies may be willing to take the risk if they cannot land a different star. The White Sox are not in any real position to contend, so trading Robert could land them some prospects to look forward to.
