A Texas man was indicted for murder by a grand jury on Monday related to the death of actor Jonathan Joss, who was shot and killed outside his San Antonio home in June.

Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez, 56, was charged with one count of murder by a grand jury in Bexar County, according to court records, News 4 San Antonio reports.

The indictment against Alvarez comes more than five months after he was arrested for first-degree murder on June 1. He posted a $200,000 bail at the time and was released.

Alvarez was identified as a neighbor of Joss, whose husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, told authorities he witnessed the shooting, People reports. Gonzales said the shooting occurred after “years of threats” from Alvarez towards Joss, saying he was targeted due to his sexuality, per People.

Joss was found lying “near the roadway” by his home when authorities responded to the scene. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Alvarez told officers at the scene “I shot him,” before being taken into custody, according to an arrest report, per News4.

Joss was best known for his roles as the voice actor of character John Redcorn on “King of the Hill,” which he appeared in 38 episodes. He also appeared in five episodes of NBC’s hit sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” playing the role of Ken Hotate.

In addition, Joss appeared in six episodes of “Walker, Texas Ranger,” three episodes each of “Ray Donovan” and “Bridgewater,” and two episodes of “Tulsa King.”

Beyond television, Joss also earned acting credits in films including “The Magnificent Seven,” “The Forever Purge,” “Abduction of the Fourth Kind,” and “True Grit.”
