One of the bigger names available in free agency across baseball this offseason is veteran slugger Kyle Schwarber. Schwarber is coming off a truly special season that saw him finish within the finalist group of the National League MVP voting.
Overall, Schwarber appeared in all 16 games for the Philadelphia Phillies, and he simply mashed the ball. For the season, Schwarber hit .240 with 56 home runs and 132 runs batted in.
His 2025 year was all around electric, and it should see him land a very lucrative deal on the open market. Schwarber is seen as a top-two talent in this free agent class, but due to his age, he isn’t likely to command a 10-year type of contract.
Many around the game see Schwarber getting a five or six-year deal, potentially similar to what Freddie Freeman received a few years ago. Schwarber has already drawn a ton of interest around the league, and he could easily slot into any team’s lineup to add a power bat.
The Phillies badly want to keep him in town, and most in the industry believe that he will ultimately land back in Philadelphia. This is due to multiple reasons, but one main one being that they could bet he only team to pay him what he wants.
If Schwarber wants a real chance to win next season, the Phillies do make a lot of sense since they still have a solid group on the roster. However, it remains to be seen where Schwarber will land, but the Phillies do have some competition to bring him back to town.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Kyle Schwarber Signs With Cincinnati Reds
The one team that could make life tough for the Phillies to retain Schwarber this offseason is the Cincinnati Reds. Many around baseball see the Reds as a real landing spot for the slugger, especially due to his being from the area.
This would be a homecoming for Schwarber, and the Reds could really use his bat in the lineup. Cincinnati did reach the postseason this past season, so Schwarber would be joining a contender in the process.
The veteran hitter has spoken at different times about how awesome it would be to return home, and this could be the perfect chance for the Reds to add to the team. With manager Terry Francona behind the bench, the Reds are primed to make a run next season, especially if they were to add a bat like Schwarber.
The biggest obstacle in this entire process is the money that it would take to land his services. Cincinnati isn’t typically seen as a team willing to spend, and this could hold their pursuit back.
But if the front office wanted to make it happen, they could, and it would absolutely electrify the fan base. All in all, the Reds may be the best landing spot for the slugger, even if it doesn’t happen due to poor management.
