The Atlanta Braves officially lost infielder Eddys Leonard to the Milwaukee Brewers on Nov. 11. The 25-year-old infielder signed a minor league contract with the Brewers after electing free agency on Nov. 6.

Leonard signed with the Braves in March and spent the season with Triple-A Gwinnett. He played first base, second base, third base, left field, right field and shortstop last season, but most of his time was spent on the infield. He hit 20 home runs last season.

Leonard has displayed solid power in the minor leagues throughout his young career. He has 87 home runs since 2021 in the minor leagues. Thirty-eight of those home runs have come at the Triple-A level.

Leonard likely did not see a path to the big leagues with the amount of talent the Braves have in front of him. The only real opening for the Braves in the infield is at shortstop, and Leonard played just one game there last season.

Leonard was the Los Angeles Dodgers’ No. 8 prospect in 2022 after signing with the team for $200,000 as an international prospect in 2017. The Brewers may not be able to give him a roster spot right away, but the team invited him to spring training as a non-roster invitee, according to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy.
