Friday’s non-tender deadline has seen a new group of players become free agents.

Listed below are some of the higher-profile players who were let go by their clubs along with their arbitration estimates from MLB Trade Rumors.

Adolis García, OF ($12.1MM)

Adolis García, who had been a staple for the Texas Rangers since the club acquired him from the St. Louis Cardinals in December 2019, is now on his way out. The 32-year-old played at a high level from 2021 to 2023, slashing .246/.305/.472 with 97 home runs and 10.7 fWAR in 453 games during that timeframe while making two All-Star teams (2021, 2023), winning a Gold Glove Award (2023) and being named the ALCS MVP in 2023 as the Rangers went on to win their first World Series in franchise history.

His numbers weren’t quite as impressive over the last two years, though, as he posted a .684 OPS with -0.1 fWAR in 2024 before slashing .227/.271/.394 with 19 home runs, 25 stolen bases and 0.7 fWAR across 135 contests in 2025. García still graded out as an elite defender in right field this past season, though, as he racked up 16 Defensive Runs Saved.

Jonah Heim, C ($6MM)

Much like García, Jonah Heim played a major role in the Rangers’ run to the World Series in 2023. He slashed .258/.317/.438 with 4.0 fWAR during the regular season that year before hitting three home runs during the playoffs.

Heim has posted -0.6 fWAR in the two years since, however, while hitting 11 home runs with a .213/.271/.332 slash line over 124 games and 433 plate appearances for Texas in 2025.

MJ Melendez, OF ($2.65MM)

A former top prospect whose career got off to a solid start in 2022 with a .706 OPS in 534 plate appearances, MJ Melendez never found his footing over the following three seasons. After slashing .222/.298/.399 between the 2023 and 2024 campaigns, the 26-year-old appeared in just 23 games at the big-league level for the Kansas City Royals this past year and batted .083/.154/.167 over 60 trips to the plate.

Melendez broke into the majors as a catcher, but he didn’t play the position for Kansas City beyond the 2023 season.

Mike Tauchman, OF ($3.4MM)

Mike Tauchman turned in a solid season for the Chicago White Sox in 2025, slashing .263/.356/.400 with nine home runs and 40 RBIs in 93 games, though he tore the meniscus in his right knee towards the end of the year.

Tauchman has accumulated 4.1 fWAR since the 2023 campaign with a .740 OPS and 24 home runs in 310 contests over that stretch.
