As we get more into the MLB offseason, there are clear teams that many around the industry see as big players in the free agent market. But every winter, there are always a few surprises, and sometimes teams that nobody saw coming can make some moves.

One of those entering this offseason is the Chicago White Sox. Chicago is coming off another extremely poor year, but this team doesn’t need to start building back toward contention.

The general manager has even said that if the right opportunity presents itself, the White Sox could look to strike. Chicago isn’t likely to be going after someone like Dylan Cease or Kyle Tucker on the top part of the free agent market, but they could very well look to bring in some players in the lower to mid tier.

The White Sox have a lot of holes to fix across the roster, and they aren’t likely to be contenders next season. But playing in Chicago could appeal to some players, and the White Sox have money to spend.

One thing that Chicago could look to do is bring in some veteran players to help the younger guys grow along the roster. This team desperately needs help in this area, specifically with he starting pitching rotation.

We could see the White Sox look to bring in a former ace, who is a little older now, to help lead this rotation forward. But whether the front office looks to make a move remains to be seen at this point.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Marcus Stroman Joins the Chicago White Sox

Luckily for the White Sox, there are a few options in free agency for them to consider. But one that could be a low-risk, potentially high-reward move could be to go after veteran right-hander Marcus Stroman.

Stroman is coming off a poor tenure with the New York Yankees, but he still has plenty of talent on the mound. Last season, Stroman posted an ERA of 6.23 over nine starts for New York.

It was a few years to forget for the former All-Star, but he would look to start anew with the White Sox. Stroman is now 35 years old, and after his struggles with the Yankees, he isn’t likely to get a big contract at all.

This is where the White Sox could come in to offer him a chance to lead the rotation for the next year or so. Chicago has spent a limited amount of money in free agency over the years, and this could be the next free agent for them.

Stroman is only two years removed from making the National League All-Star team while a member of the Chicago Cubs. The veteran knows Chicago already, which could help things in this potential pairing.

All in all, this could be a way for Stroman to keep his career going, while the White Sox get a former All-Star for the rotation. Even if things don’t work out, it’s a chance that both sides may want to consider taking this offseason.
