The Minnesota Twins were arguably the most important team at the MLB trade deadline this year. Minnesota underwent a massive fire sale across the roster, essentially shopping out the entire bullpen in the process.

The Twins seem headed toward a full rebuild, and it could see them look to make a few more moves this winter. The team still has a few quality pieces on the roster that could be intriguing for opposing teams, and Minnesota could move them.

One of these players is star outfielder Byron Buxton, who has consistently said that he doesn’t want to leave the organization. Buxton was centered in trade rumors at the deadline last year, but with his no-trade clause, it complicated matters.

However, the veteran has now changed his tune a little bit and seems to be open to a potential trade. Buxton wants to win, and since the Twins aren’t expected to do so, he could approve a move.

Last season, Buxton hit .264 with 35 home runs and 83 runs batted in. Buxton has special talent, but injuries have defined his career over the past few years.

The other player that Minnesota may look to trade is pitcher Joe Ryan, who also drew a ton of interest at the deadline. Ryan is coming off a very nice season, and his value may never be higher.

In 31 games last season (30 starts), Ryan posted an ERA of 3.42, while also striking out 194 batters over 171 innings of work. His performance helped him make the All-Star team, which was his first appearance in his career.

But whether the Twins actually move either of the two players remains to be seen. However, if this team is serious about entering a full rebuild, then moving off both guys could make a lot of sense.

This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Twins Trade Byron Buxton and Joe Ryan to Boston Red Sox

If the Twins were to make both players available, a team like the Boston Red Sox could look to get involved. Boston does have a logjam of outfielders already, but for a chance to add Buxton, the team would likely jump at the chance.

The Red Sox could put Buxton into an already potent lineup, giving them even more of a boost for the year. Buxton would likely be okay with a move to the Red Sox since they are seen as a contender in the American League.

Boston could also add Ryan to the starting rotation, giving them one of the better units in the league. The Red Sox could slot him in as the No. 2 behind Garrett Crochet, giving them a special one-two punch.

This team has the prospects needed to make a deal possible, and they could include someone like Jarren Duran to help push things through. Overall, the Red Sox make a lot of sense for each player, and the Twins may prefer to deal them in one big package if the two players are available this offseason.
