As the Minnesota Twins enter the MLB offseason, the front office has multiple questions to answer. After undergoing a major fire sale at the trade deadline this year, Minnesota still has a few players who could be moved this offseason.
One of those is right-hander Joe Ryan, who is coming off a career season with the team. Ryan put up an ERA of 3.42, a 1.04 WHIP, while striking out 10.2 batters per nine innings.
The right-hander is under team control for a few more seasons, so there may not be a rush to move him. But Minnesota also came very close to pulling the trigger at the trade deadline, so they could look to spark up talks with opposing teams again this winter.
As the Twins decide what they want to do with some of the players, including Ryan, the idea of making a deal has grown louder as the offseason has moved on. Ryan could net this team a massive return after the season that he just put together, and his value may not get any higher than it is currently.
So, if Minnesota is serious about fully entering into a rebuild, trading Ryan this offseason makes the most sense for the long-term future of the team. The Twins should tear everything down to rebuild it back up, and Ryan could be a focal part of this, even if it’s landing the team a haul of quality prospects.
But whether the front office decides to move on from him remains one of the bigger questions around the league. If Ryan is made available, the Twins would surely see multiple trade offers coming in, and they would then need to sift through them all.
This is just a prediction, NOT a report!

Minnesota Twins Trade Joe Ryan to Baltimore Orioles
One team that could get involved in a trade for Ryan, if he is made available, is the Baltimore Orioles. Baltimore is expected to be very aggressive in adding to the team this winter, and addressing the starting pitching on the roster is key for this team.
The Orioles front office never replaced Corbin Burnes in the rotation last year after he left in free agency. This could be a way to do this, while also getting a pitcher under multiple years of team control.
Ryan isn’t on the same level as Burnes as a pitcher, but he is still very good. The right-hander could head up the Orioles’ rotation, giving them the front-line starter that they missed this year.
Baltimore is only two years removed from winning the American League East division, so there is pressure on them to compete next season. Ryan could solve a lot of the problems that this team has, and they have the prospect capital to get a deal done.
Overall, Ryan could become the new ace of this rotation moving forward, and the postseason could be in play next year, depending on what else Baltimore’s front office does.
