DENVER (KKTV) – The Colorado Rockies announced on Monday that their current interim manager Warren Schaeffer would be assuming the role full-time.
The Rockies said Schaeffer, who has served as the interim manager since May 11, has been a member of the organization for more than a decade, serving in a variety of different roles related to coaching and player development.
Schaeffer played in the Rockies’ Minor League system from 2007-2012 before transitioning into coaching and management, managing a handful of Minor League teams from 2015-2022 before joining the Major League coaching staff. He began his time as the Rockies’ third base and infield coach in 2023.
“We’re confident Warren is the right person to lead our club moving forward,” President of Baseball Operations Paul DePodesta said. “He has established strong relationships with our players, understands the culture of this franchise and embodies the energy and work ethic we want on and off the field.”
“I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to continue leading this team,” Schaeffer said. “My focus remains on continuing to build a strong, unified culture based on accountability, hard work and trust. We have a group of guys who care deeply about competing the right way, and my goal is to keep strengthening those relationships while leading a team that our fans can embrace and be proud of.”
