Right-hander Carson Spiers, who was released by the Cincinnati Reds last week to make room on the 40-man roster for other players, re-signed with the club on a minor-league deal for 2026, the Reds announced Nov. 24..
The deal includes an invitation to spring training.
Spiers, who opened the 2025 season in the Reds rotation in place of late-starting Andrew Abbott, was shut down in late April because of a shoulder impingement and then during his rehab process developed an elbow injury that required Tommy John surgery. He finished the season on the 60-day injured list.
Spiers gave up nine earned runs in 13 1/3 innings across two starts and a relief appearances before going on the injured list. He’s 5-10 with a 5.69 ERA in 29 career games, including 14 starts, over parts of three seasons.
