Tommy Pham doesn’t want to be done yet.
He’ll enter the 2026 MLB season at 38 years old, but the high-energy outfielder hopes to keep playing. He’s a free agent right now after having a big stretch run for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Pham told The Athletic in a new article that he does indeed plan to play in 2026 rather than retire.
He added that his goal is to get to 200 home runs and 200 steals for his career. Pham currently has 149 homers and 131 stolen bases.

Pham’s 2025 season with the Pirates included a .245 batting average and .700 OPS.
He heated up down the stretch, hitting 10 home runs and 13 doubles in the season’s final three months.
Pham enters free agency at an interesting time. There really aren’t many righty hitting outfielders available.Â
The list includes guys like Harrison Bader, Miguel Andujar, Austin Hays, Lane Thomas and Adolis Garcia.
Is Pham really that much different than them?Â
And at Pham’s age, he may not seek a multi-year deal, which could appeal to certain teams relative to signing one of the guys above for multiple seasons.

Pham has played for 10 MLB teams. The record is 14, held by Rich Hill and Edwin Jackson.
He may not reach that mark, and it may be tough to get to 200-200, either. But Pham wants to keep playing, and he should get that chance.
