The Colorado Rockies made an early move to add some pitching depth this offseason.

Given that not a lot of pitchers are keen to sign and play a mile above sea level, it’s always a win when the Rockies can land someone.

The MLB official transaction log shows that the Rockies have signed left-handed pitcher Parker Mushinski.

Mushinski has appeared in three MLB seasons, all with the Houston Astros.

He has a career 5.45 ERA in 33 MLB innings.

He was originally a seventh-round pick by the Astros in 2017 out of Texas Tech.

He left the Houston organization after the 2024 season and signed with the Cleveland Guardians.

He didn’t make it to the bigs with Cleveland, instead staying at Triple-A Columbus. Mushinski had a 3.78 ERA at Triple-A out of the bullpen.

There is opportunity to be had in Colorado for Mushinski. Given the poor talent in the organization, and the way veteran pitchers stay away, Mushinski can very likely break through to the  MLB roster.

Of course, it’s not an easy place to pitch.

The Rockies will surely seek more pitching this offseason, too, but it’s not easy to get. So landing Mushinski, even with just his limited MLB experience, is good news for Colorado.
