The Philadelphia Phillies released their home game times for the 2026 regular season and I gotta be honest, it’s not great for anyone that has a life.
Opening Day against the Texas Rangers is scheduled for 3:05pm with nearly every other home game on the schedule getting started at 6:40pm, which I hate more than the Phillies themselves.

Honestly, I hate the 6:40 start time. Last year was 6:45pm which obviously, wasn’t any better. Give it a few years and the Phillies will be playing 3:00pm games on the regular.
What a brutal decision by Major League Baseball. For what exactly? I have no idea. They better not be rolling out the whole “kids can watch the full game because it starts at 6:40” excuse train because I’m not buying that one bit. Where’s the data? How do they even judge that in the first place?
Not to mention, I should respectuflly question who actually gives a shit about “the kids?” Fuck the kids. I know that’s not respectful and it’s going to sound like I’m gatekeeping the Phillies but where was your kid during the last 10-year playoff drought? How about the better part of the 1990s into the early 2000s? Ah… not around?
See what I mean? Those little rats don’t deserve anything. Suffer though it and build some character before we start catering to them.
Anyways, 6:40 is a pain in the ass for a lot of reasons. First, getting done work, home, errands, dinner, and then to sit down and watch the Phillies play is basically impossible. Hell, even if you go right home after work it’s pushing it. Next thing you know, the game is over and it’s like… what, 8:30pm? Now what am I supposed to do?
I’ll tell you. I light one up and get ready for West Coast baseball on MLB.TV (not an ad) but the general fan is left sitting there like an idiot with nothing else to do for the rest of the night.
I know I’m one of the rare ones that stays up all night and is also up at 6 am grinding out content for The Liberty Line but in general, that 6:40pm start time fucks you on both ends of the equations.
