The New York gets have numerous decisions to continue making this offseason when it comes to the structure of their roster. They already made one trade, sending Brandon Nimmo to the Texas Rangers for Marcus Semien. That shouldn’t be the only trade they look to make, though.
The Mets have another trade candidate on their roster in Jeff McNeil, who has been featured in trade rumors early on this offseason. The trade for Semien makes the Mets’ infield a bit crowded as well, making McNeil a bit more expendable.
If the Mets make Jeff McNeil available in a trade, it is the Pittsburgh Pirates that make sense to trade for him.

New York Mets Trade Jeff McNeil to the Pittsburgh Pirates
The Pittsburgh Pirates are entering their first offseason with their new manager in Don Kelly, which means that their approach as to how they will restructure the team should end up being different compared to previous seasons.
The Pirates need to be aggressive as they can be to prove they are working to turn things around and in the right direction. One step the Pirates need to take to make this possible is fixing their second base spot. With Andrew McCutchen being a free agent, plus seeing a decline in play in recent season, it creates a further emphasis for this spot to be fixed.
One way in which the Pirates can do so is by trading for Jeff McNeil. With McNeil, he is coming off a season with the Mets where he had a .243/.335/.411 slash line with 12 home runs and 54 RBIs. McNeil is 33 years old, and has been playing in MLB for eight seasons, but he can provide the stability in the field, as well as in the lineup, that the Pirates need to start to shift things around for the future.
With Jeff McNeil being a two-time All-Star and former batting champion, with a high-contact rate, he is a prime trade candidate for the Mets, and the Pirates must do whatever they can to acquire him.
