Jake McKinley, who led Nevada baseball to a Mountain West regular-season championship last season, has stepped down from his Wolf Pack post to accept a job with the Seattle Mariners.

McKinley spent the last three seasons at Nevada, coming to Reno from a pro baseball job with the Milwaukee Brewers. McKinley will head back to the professional ranks as the Mariners’ major league field coordinator. Nevada will promote hitting coach and recruiting coordinator Jordan Getzelman, pending NSHE Board of Regents approval.

McKinley went 79-82 overall and 45-45 in the MW during his three-year tenure, elevating Nevada’s win total from 20 games in his first season to 25 in his second and 34 in his third. Last season, Nevada won the MW with a 19-11 record with McKinley earning MW coach of the year honors.
