Devin Williams’ girlfriend, Maggie Badock, will seemingly be pleased that the star reliever is staying put in the Big Apple.
On Monday, the New York Mets inked Williams to a three-year, $51 million deal that includes a $45 million base salary and a $6 million signing bonus plus deferrals. The 31-year-old spent the 2025 campaign across town with the Yankees, though struggled mightily during his lone season in the Bronx.
Last December, the Yankees dealt pitcher Nestor Cortes, infielder Caleb Durbin and cash considerations to the Milwaukee Brewers in exchange for Williams, who immediately slotted in as New York’s closer. By April, however, he was demoted to a set-up man after posting an 11.25 ERA over his first 10 appearances.

Williams reclaimed the closer role in early June, but struggled yet again to deliver consistent results. He was permanently made a late-inning reliever once the Yankees acquired David Bednar at the trade deadline, later shining in several high-leverage situations during New York’s run to the American League Division Series.
Once the dust had finally settled on his rollercoaster season, Williams recorded a 4.79 ERA over 62 innings while allowing 37 runs — four more than the combined number he surrendered from 2022-24.
Prior to Williams’ tumultuous tenure in the Bronx, Badock expressed the couple’s excitement to move to New York following six seasons in Milwaukee.
After the right-handed pitcher was traded by the Brewers, she shared the news on her Instagram Story alongside the caption: “Nyc dreams coming true, but bitter sweet to say bye to the brewers after many years with the org!

“So grateful for the time we’ve had in MKE, so much love forever.”
Though Williams was the recipient of regular boos and jeers from New York faithful, the Florissant, Missouri native still looked back fondly on his time in New York.
“At first it was a challenge, but I’ve grown to love being here,” he told reporters after the Yankees were eliminated from the playoffs with a 5-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays in Game 4 of their ALDS.
“I love this city. I love taking the train to the field every day. Yeah, I really enjoyed my experience here.”

Given the fact that he’d spent the large majority of his career playing in the smallest market in Major League Baseball, Williams conceded the abrupt jump to New York required an adjustment period.
“I played in the smallest market in the league, to the biggest market in the league. I drove to the field every day … it took me 10 minutes to get there in Milwaukee,” Williams explained.
“There’s just a lot of life stuff that it’s an adjustment. … I got here a day before the season started and then had to figure out my routine kind of on the fly.”
