The Toronto Blue Jays already have one of the best starting rotations in baseball, and they may not be done adding to it just yet.

Following the seven-year contract with Dylan Cease, the Blue Jays now have a five-man rotation that consists of Cease, Kevin Gausman, Trey Yesavage, Shane Bieber, and Jose Berrios. They also still have players like Eric Lauer and Bowden Francis who can make spot starts when needed. Still, management may be looking to add even more depth.

It sounds like the Blue Jays are still looking to add more starting pitching depth, which could come in the form of returnees like Max Scherzer or Chris Bassitt.

Sportsnet’s Shi Davidi mentioned in a recent article that given injury concerns to both Berrios and Francis, paired with Bieber’s past Tommy John surgery, the Jays may look to add another starter as insurance.

Both Bassitt and Scherzer have been on record saying that they would like to return to the Blue Jays. Bassitt played a big role out of the bullpen in the playoffs, while Scherzer posted a very respectable 3.77 ERA in three postseason starts.

Davidi also mentioned that the Jays continue to be linked to the likes of middle-tier starters such as Michael King of the San Diego Padres and Zac Gallen from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

What’s becoming increasingly clear, if it wasn’t already after the Cease signing, is that this Blue Jays’ front office is now all-in on winning a World Series after being just one win away from doing so in November.

They also continue to be in the market for a closer, most recently being tied to Pete Fairbanks. On top of that, they are still hoping to re-sign shortstop Bo Bichette, while also being tied to outfielder Kyle Tucker. Suffice to say, the Blue Jays are going to be a very interesting team to monitor over the coming weeks.
