The Atlanta Braves are a team that finds itself in an interesting situation this offseason. Missing the playoffs yet having one of the best rosters in baseball is a conundrum that can only be explained by plaguing injuries.
With the Braves being spectators this postseason, they got to see what other teams are doing to have postseason success.
The Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Dodgers, Seattle Mariners, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, and many others are showing that you must add talent in any way available. Whether it is being extremely smart in trades and signings like the Brewers or big spenders like the Dodgers, you can not stay stagnant year after year.
The Braves can not expect their already talented roster to all of a sudden finally be healthy and get the job done. They are getting older, and anything can happen.
They must add elite talent to uplift the floor of the team. That is why the Atlanta Braves will sign Pete Alonso to replace Marcell Ozuna as their next designated hitter.

Pete Alonso Signs With Braves
The New York Mets would be devastated to lose their superstar slugger to a divisional rival in the Atlanta Braves. The Mets are still looking for the winning formula for a World Series Championship, and to lose an elite-level player in the same position as they are would be a massive loss to their dreams.Â
The Atlanta Braves have had an explosive offense over the years, led by 2023 National League Most Valuable Player Ronald Acuna Jr.
With several other strong players on the roster, they will more than likely be losing their long-time designated hitter, Marcell Ozuna, this offseason. This would be an opportunity to replace and upgrade the position.Â
In the past four seasons, from 2022 through 2025, Alonso has 54 more hits, 35 more home runs, and 135 more RBIs. Alonso batting behind Ronald Acuna Jr. would protect the former MVP more than almost any other batter that could be behind him and could set the possibilities of Acuna breaking a total runs record in a season.
Alonso, a four-time All-Star and one-time Silver Slugger, will not be chasing a historic payday this offseason. He wants to be on a winning team and a team with a chance for a World Series.
The Atlanta Braves would give him the best chance to do that. The Braves are closer than most think and are quickly getting forgotten among the contenders out there. The Atlanta Braves must be aggressive in this era of baseball and go and sign Pete Alonso.
Potential Pete Alonso Contract
Pete Alonso is entering his prime and will earn himself a hefty deal this offseason, and will most likely not take the top offer unless it comes from a contending team.
At 30 years old with seven years of league experience, he is set to make a lot of money. With Scott Boras as his agent, it may be worth even more than expected.
Spotrac.com has Alonso’s market value as a four-year deal worth a little over $113 million. Putting him at an annual average salary of $28.3 million.
At 30, he could opt for a four-year deal so he has a chance to sign another big deal when he is 34, or take a long-term agreement with guaranteed funds to end his career on.
Expect Alonso to sign anywhere between four and seven years and from $28-32 million for the annual average salary.
The Atlanta Braves need to figure out a way to make this work in their books. Whether it be deferments or their only big signing this season, the Braves need another elite bat to keep up with some of these other lineups.
The Braves are right there, and a move like this would remind everyone in the league that they are already contenders and even more so now because they signed Pete Alonso.
