Lee Jung-hoo’s team, the San Francisco Giants, reinforced the left-hander’s bullpen.

The Giants said on the 4th (Korea Standard Time) that they agreed to a one-year contract with left-hander Sam Hentchis (29).

It did not disclose the size of the contract. According to what the local media said earlier, it is on the condition of receiving $1.4 million (2.06 billion won).

Hentches made his big league debut with the Cleveland Guardians in 2021, going 7-8 with 34 holds and one save with a 4.18 ERA in 168 games over four years. In 2022, he made three appearances in the postseason.

In the 2025 season, he did not play a game in the aftermath of having a left shoulder arthroplasty in September 2024. In August, he also underwent surgery to repair cartilage in the meniscus of his right knee.

The Giants expected Hentches to be able to prepare in time for spring camp.

Hentches had a 2.93 ERA and 155 strikeouts WHIP 1.12 in 138 games from 2022 to 2024.

The Giants said his 2.93 record during this period was the sixth-best performance among left-handers who threw more than 135 innings during the same period.

After left-hander Eric Miller left last season due to an elbow injury, San Francisco used Joey Luqueisi and Matt Gage, but did not get the desired result. Lucais released a non-tender.

If Hentches regains health, San Francisco will be able to operate a more stable left-hander bullpen.
