Doosan Bears held pitcher Ichiro Tamura (Japan) in their arms in the Asian quarter.
Doosan announced on the 4th that it signed pitcher Tamura for a total of $200,000 as an Asian quarter player.
Tamura, who has a physique of 173 centimeters and 80 kilograms, is a right-hander who was named the sixth-ranked by the Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB) Seibu Lions in 2016. In nine seasons, he played 150 games (182.2 innings) as a bullpen pitcher, recording a 3.58 ERA with four wins, two losses, two saves and eight holds.

This year, he mainly played as a closing pitcher in the NPB’s second division. He has seven saves and a 0.00 ERA in 16 games (17 innings).
Doosan conducted Tamura’s tryouts during the closing camp in Miyazaki, Japan, in November. Tamura received passing points in fastball command and ball pitching through bullpen pitching and live pitching at the time.
A Doosan official said, “Tamura is a resource with a stable pitching balance centered on the lower body. As a bullpen pitcher, his physical strength has been proven, he said. “He can play various pitches such as fork balls, curves, and cutters as well as fastballs of up to 150 kilometers. He did not hide his expectations, saying, “I will be able to fully play the role of a must-win team.”
Tamura said, “I’m proud to be part of Doosan, a prestigious team with tradition. “Thank you for the opportunity,” he said. “I will do everything I learned from my nine years at NPB. I will do my best to prepare for a play that makes fans excited,” he said, adding to his voice.
