Miguel Rojas, whose ninth-inning home run in Game 7 of the World Series proved pivotal in the Dodgers’ victory over the Toronto Blue Jays, is coming back for another season.

Rojas, who turns 37 in February, will sign a one-year, $5.5 million contract for what he is planning will be his final season as a player. The Venezuelan infielder has played four of his 12 major league seasons in Los Angeles (2014, 2023-25), the other eight (2015-22) in Miami.

Last season, Rojas was a backup infielder who hit .262 with a .715 OPS in the regular season. He put the ball in play often, and was a valuable backup infielder at all four positions, but did little else to distinguish himself on the field.

That’s what made Rojas’ solo home run against Blue Jays closer Jeff Hoffman on Nov. 1 so remarkable. The Dodgers were two outs away from a 4-3 defeat — an opportune time for Rojas to hit his first home run of the postseason.

“Today, the game honored Miggy,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told his team in a champagne-soaked clubhouse after the conclusion of Game 7 in Toronto.

Now, the Dodgers will honor Rojas with a half-million dollar raise on his 2025 salary and, reportedly, a role in the team’s player development department after he’s played his final game.
