The Los Angeles Dodgers are the best team in the league, but they’re seemingly ready to improve even more this offseason. They’re reportedly one of the top suitors for Kyle Tucker, but they could look to swing a big trade or two as well.

The Dodgers could look to make a big move to improve their roster, but they’d need to part ways with top prospects to get it done.

MLB’s Mark Feinsand recently listed Dodgers prospect Dalton Rushing as one of their most intriguing trade candidates this offseason, which could make a lot of sense given Will Smith’s spot on the roster.

Los Angeles Dodgers hat

“Rushing was the Dodgers’ No. 1 prospect in 2024, and while he underwhelmed at the plate in a backup role in 2025 (four home runs, 24 RBIs and a .582 OPS in 53 games), he remains one of the top catching prospects in the game,” Feinsand wrote. “With Will Smith locked up through 2033, Rushing’s long-term fit on the roster remains unknown. The Dodgers don’t have another catcher on their 40-man roster, so while they’re not itching to move Rushing, using him as the centerpiece for a big trade wouldn’t be a shock.”

Rushing is blocked at catcher by Smith, but he still holds enough value to land a huge piece in return.

The Dodgers could use him as the headliner in a trade for a player like Brendan Donovan. Donovan is seemingly likely to be moved by the Cardinals, and the Dodgers would be the perfect landing spot. Parting ways with Rushing to acquire a versatile All-Star would make a lot of sense.
