It seems like the Chicago Cubs are bound to lose superstar Kyle Tucker in free agency this winter. They swung a trade for Tucker last winter, but he’s projected to sign a massive contract this winter.

The top suitors in the sweepstakes seem to be the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Toronto Blue Jays. Each team has the capability to spend as much money as it takes to bring in Tucker.

FanSided’s Mark Powell recently projected Tucker would sign for at least $400 million in free agency this offseason

Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker

“I’d put money on Kyle Tucker waiting out the winter meetings, rather than signing before anyone expected. Tucker may be quiet, but even he understands the benefit of allowing, say, Cody Bellinger to sign before he does,” Powell wrote. “Tucker’s agent, Casey Close, is said to be seeking a $400 million deal for his client, if not more.

“Tucker is easily the most-accomplished offensive player in this class. There’s little reason for him to agree to a deal before he has to, and if Bellinger signs a lucrative deal in Orlando, Tucker’s price tag will only increase.”

The Dodgers could use Tucker in their outfield as a replacement for Michael Conforto. Adding Tucker would be very expensive, but it’s nothing the Dodgers couldn’t afford.

The Yankees could replace Cody Bellinger with Tucker if they lose Bellinger in free agency. There’s a chance the Yankees make offers to both star outfielders, but they’d be lucky to walk away with one of the two.

The Blue Jays recently signed Dylan Cease to a monster contract, but they could look to sign Tucker, too. If they want to get over the hump and win the World Series, they can’t afford to lose Tucker to the Dodgers.
