The Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to make some changes in the offseason, and could look to ship out veteran outfielder Teoscar Hernandez to meet their needs, per The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal and Patrick Mooney.

Hernandez, 33, didn’t quite meet expectations at the plate in 2025, posting a .738 OPS just one season after he had a career-best 4.3 WAR with a career-high 33 home runs and made his second All-Star Game. The Dodgers, if they are to trade him, would look for a centerfielder and move Andy Pages into right field.

“An interesting possibility has surfaced for the two-time defending World Series champion Dodgers: A trade of right fielder Teoscar Hernández,” the article reads.

“Hernández’s name is coming up in trade conversations, according to league sources. The Dodgers view a deal as unlikely, but the idea of it, at least, is not without logic.

“…If the Dodgers trade Hernández, they could move Andy Pages to right, where he could be elite, and try to acquire a center fielder.”

Hernandez played defense well below average in 2025, ranking in the bottom six percent of MLB with a minus-9 fielding run value and in the bottom three percent with a minus-9 outs above average. Moving Pages into right and securing a strong defensive center fielder would be a huge boost for the Dodgers, who finished 2025 with a collective minus-1 fielding run value.

Tommy Edman, who has intermittently featured in center over the past couple of seasons, will likely not be available for the outfield towards the beginning of the season after undergoing surgery on his ankle, giving the Dodgers one less option in the outfield.

Who Could the Dodgers Trade Teoscar Hernandez For?

If they are to trade Hernandez, the Dodgers could look towards several options this offseason. The Boston Red Sox’s Jarren Duran is the odd man out in Boston’s crowded outfield, and has experience in center. Longtime trade target Byron Buxton is another option, as the Minnesota Twins unloaded several first-team players at the deadline in July and could still look to do so this offseason.
