The Seattle Mariners reinforced the left-hander bullpen through a trade.
The Mariners announced on the 7th (Korea Standard Time) that they had hired left-hander Jose Perair (25) from the Washington Nationals under the name of general manager Justin Hollander.
They gave up catcher Harry Ford (22) and minor league right-hander Isaac Lyon (21) on condition of receiving a per-air.

Perair has appeared in 142 games over the past three seasons in the major leagues, going 8-4 with 12 saves and a 4.48 ERA.
In the 2025 season, he pitched 7 1/3 innings in 72 games with a 4.48 ERA and a 0.6 home run, 1.9 walks, and 8.4 strikeouts per 1.2719 WHIP innings.
In particular, he showed a strong performance against left-handed hitters with a left-handed hit rate of 0.186 POPS of 0.521. It was regrettable that he showed weakness against the right-handed batter (0.323/0.802).
The Mariners introduced that he recorded a 64.3% ground ball induction rate last season, 99% of the league’s percentile, 95% of the walk allowance rate (4.9%), 94% of the average fastball restraint (97.7 miles), and 93% of the regular hitting rate (4.8%).

Ford is a 2021 first-round draft pick. He made his big league debut last season and recorded one hit in six at-bats in eight games. In Triple-A, he played 97 games and recorded a batting average of 0.283 on-base percentage of 0.408 slugging percentage of 0.460 with 16 home runs, 74 RBIs and seven steals.
He has been listed on the “MLB.com ” preseason league prospect rankings for four consecutive years since 2022. It reached 38th place in 2024, but fell to 65th place this year. He played in the Futures Games for three consecutive years from 2023.
Lion is a 10th round draft pick in 2025. In four starts in Single A, he allowed 10 runs, four homers, three walks, and 15 strikeouts in 121/3 innings.
