The Los Angeles Dodgers are the winners of back-to-back World Series titles. They’ve been one of the best teams in the league for years, but over the course of the last two seasons, they’ve put the pieces together to achieve the ultimate goal.

But they’re likely looking to bolster the roster in free agency this winter, and they’re likely looking at some of the biggest names on the market.

Jim Bowden of The Athletic recently predicted the Dodgers would sign Robert Suarez away from the rival San Diego Padres on a huge five-year, $80 million deal this winter.

“Suarez stays in the NL West and becomes the Dodgers’ closer with Roki Sasaki moving to the rotation,” Bowden wrote.

The Dodgers desperately need to add to their bullpen this offseason. In the postseason, the bullpen was the sole weakness for Dave Roberts’ club. Adding Suarez would certainly boost the bullpen by quite a bit.

The Dodgers have been connected to Suarez by numerous insiders. It wouldn’t be surprising to see them spend big to shore up the ninth innings of games for the next few years.

The cherry on top would be the fact that the Dodgers would be stealing Suarez from their biggest rivals. Los Angeles already has a lead on the Padres in the National League West, but the gap would widen if this idea comes to fruition.
