Astros announce sale of Sugar Land Space Cowboys, Corpus Christi Hooks, Fayetteville Woodpeckers to ownership group

  • December 10, 2025

The Houston Astros announced they are selling three of their minor league affiliates — the Sugar Land Space Cowboys (Triple-A), Corpus Christi Hooks (Double-A), and Fayetteville Woodpeckers (Single-A) — to Diamond Baseball Holdings (DBH).

The Astros announced the sale in a statement Tuesday.

Despite the sale, all three teams will remain Astros affiliates and retain their current leadership.

Each team will also continue to operate at its current stadium: Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Whataburger Field in Corpus Christi, and Segra Stadium in Fayetteville.

In the statement announcing the move, Astros General Manager Dana Brown emphasized the importance of these affiliates in player development and community engagement.

DBH is a sports ownership and management group that operates multiple Minor League Baseball clubs nationwide. In the statement, DBH said it plans to build on the teams’ local foundations while investing in fan experiences and player development.

“We’re excited to welcome these three outstanding Astros affiliates to the DBH family,” BDH Executive Chairman Pat Battle and CEO Peter Freund said in the statement.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks, pending MLB approval and other standard conditions.

“Diamond Baseball Holdings is the perfect partner for the Astros,” said Astros owner Jim Crane. “We remain committed to these communities as our affiliate partners and look forward to continuing to grow the game of baseball together.”
