The Houston Astros announced Tuesday, Dec. 9, that they have agreed to sell the Corpus Christi Hooks to Diamond Baseball Holdings, an organization that owns and operates select Minor League Baseball clubs.

The deal also includes the Sugar Land Space Cowboys and Fayetteville Woodpeckers.

The Hooks will remain the Astros’ Double-A affiliate and continue to operate under Corpus Christi general manager Brady Ballard and the existing front office staff.

“Diamond Baseball Holdings is the right partner for the Astros and our affiliates,” Astros owner Jim Crane said in a news release. “We are grateful to the fans and employees who have helped make these clubs successful and look forward to continuing to grow the game together.”

The Space Cowboys (Triple-A) and Woodpeckers (Single-A) will also remain Astros affiliates and continue playing in Sugar Land and Fayetteville with their current leadership teams in place.

Founded in 2005, the Hooks have become a Coastal Bend staple with six Texas League postseason appearances and a strong community presence.

The team recently celebrated its 20th anniversary with a rebrand, which included a new logo and uniforms.

“Our affiliates are critical to our success,” Astros general manager Dana Brown said in the release. “We look forward to working with Diamond Baseball Holdings to provide a first-class experience for our players and fans.”
