The Baltimore Orioles are looking for a top bat this winter. Even after trading Grayson Rodriguez to the Los Angeles Angels for Taylor Ward, Baltimore wants an impact bat, and they are prioritizing free-agent first baseman Pete Alonso. However, the organization could be targeting the top free agent on the market.

The Orioles are considering free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker in pursuit of a top bat, as reported by The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal. Tucker is regarded as the top free agent on the market and could receive a contract worth up to $400 million. This is what makes the Orioles a shocking fit.

The free-agent outfielder would be a fantastic fit for Baltimore, and he does have some ties to the organization. Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias was the Houston Astros‘ scouting director when Tucker was selected with the No. 5 overall pick in 2015.

The Orioles’ outfield would consist of Tucker, Ward, and Colton Cowser, which is an elite group of players. The biggest question moving forward is whether Baltimore will give Tucker a contract that is between $300 to $400 million. If not, Tucker will likely be taking his talent elsewhere.
