2025 stats: 74 games, 225 PAs, 8 doubles, 7 home runs, no triples, 18 RBI and 8-2 in SB attempts. He slashed .201/.274/.347 with an OPS of .620 and OPS+ of 71. He had 64 Ks, to 20walks.

Date of birth: April 7th, 1999

2025 status: He is on the 40 man roster, still has his rookie status in tact, so has all 3 minor league options. He will see some starts at 1B and in the outfield, as well as 2B.

Tawa was drafted in the 11th round of the 2021 draft out of Stanford University. Apparently, he was drafted as a 2B, but it looks like he spent most of his tenure at Stanford in the outfield. At all levels, he has 1599 innings at 2B and 1519 in the outfield. The only positions he has not played are pitcher and catcher. For the Dbacks this past season he did not appear as a shortstop, catcher or pitcher. Speaking of defense, he made 3 errors as a 2B and 1 as a 1B in his time with the Major League club. He turned 14 double plays, though.

Tawa started the season at AAA Reno, where he played in 6 games and hit 3 home runs and drove in 12. He was called up to the Dbacks on April 5th. The Dbacks placed Ketel Marte on the IL in the corresponding move. He had a hit and scored a run in his MLB debut against the Washington Nationals on April 5th. He hit his first home run in his 6th game, against the Miami Marlins.

Tawa played in 59 games, and had 179 PAs from then until July 4th. He hit 6 home runs, and had 14 RBI with a .200 BA. He struck out 47 times and had 13 walks and doubled 6 times. On July 5th, the Dbacks optioned Tawa to Reno and reinstated Corbin Carroll from the IL. He played in 9 games for the Reno Aces in July and then missed all of August due to…something? Niether the Aces or Dbacks transaction logs list anything. I found a little blurb on CBS Sports that just called it an “unspecified injury.”

Tawa came back up to the Dbacks in September and played his first game on the 9th. He had 9 hits in 52 plate appearances and 1 home run. He batted .205, struck out 17 times and walked 7. Tawa had two 3 hit games this season, one in May and one in June. His high for RBI was 2 in a game against the Orioles in April.
