MURRAY, Ky. (KFVS) – Capitalizing on their College World Series appearance, Murray State baseball announced and broke ground on a new baseball clubhouse.
The Jim & Sue Cash Baseball Clubhouse, as it will be called, will feature a new locker room, player lounge, team meeting room, and training room. It will be located along the right wall of the Racers’ Johnny Reagan Field.
The Cash family donated $1 million for the project to Racers athletics.
A formal groundbreaking was held for the project on Friday.
“This is a transformational day for Murray State Athletics and our baseball program, and we are thrilled to officially unveil the Jim & Sue Cash Baseball Clubhouse facility for our student-athletes, coaches, and staff,” Murray State University President Dr. Ron Patterson said. “The facility will add a new element to our university skyline, and we are greatly anticipating the start of this project.”
Attached to the facility will be a new outdoor hitting space and bullpen, along with a pitching lab.
In front of the facility, premium seats will be added for Johnny Reagan.
Construction on the clubhouse will begin after the 2026 baseball season. However, other upgrades are on the way for Murray State and are expected before the upcoming season.
In addition to a new outfield wall, Johnny Reagan Field is set to receive a major upgrade in its field drainage system, something that’s plagued the program as recently as last season.
The Racers are also adding a new video board, something the athletic department says “stands to be one of the largest, baseball-specific boards in the country.”
