ATLANTA, Ga. (ANF/WVLT) – Two people are facing charges after a Powell woman was killed in Georgia on Tuesday.
Mystique Taylor, 23, and Rolanda Edwards, 25, were arrested after the body of 20-year-old Kaylee Shackelford was found wrapped in blankets on Tuesday in Rome, Georgia.
During their first court appearance on Wednesday, the judge said Taylor stabbed Shackelford in the face and neck and hit her in the head with a baseball bat.
Taylor was denied bond for the charges, which included two counts of felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, concealing the death of another, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, theft by receiving stolen property and failure to obey traffic-control devices.
On Friday, Taylor was charged with feticide as Shackelford was pregnant when she was killed. Police did not say how far along she was.
Meanwhile, Edwards was charged with being a party to a crime and concealing a death. The judge accused her of helping remove the body from her apartment. She was released on a $5,000 bond.
Investigators believe Shackelford and Taylor were in a relationship, while Taylor had begun an online relationship with Edwards.
Court records said this incident wasn’t Taylor’s first alleged act of violence toward Shackelford. Last month, Taylor allegedly tried to hit her with a car in Cobb County, Georgia, causing her to slip while running and hit her head on.
