2 teens were arrested on Thursday by the Cape Coral Police Department for arson at the Pelican Baseball Complex.
A park ranger contacted authorities on Wednesday after finding extensive damage in the park’s bathrooms, including broken sinks and burnt items in toilets.
Security footage showed two individuals entering the bathrooms around 2:05 a.m., with smoke seen shortly after. Detectives worked with the State Fire Marshal to identify the suspects but had not yet located them.
On Thursday, the suspects returned, allegedly setting fire to garbage cans, a wooden table, and an American flag. They are also accused of targeting Cape Christian Church, igniting a T-shirt and a sign.
Police arrested the two juveniles at Cape Christian. One suspect was allegedly found with 54 grams of marijuana, and CCPD said the other had alcohol and a THC vape.
One suspect faces multiple charges including first-degree arson, criminal mischief, desecration of a flag, and possession of a controlled substance. The other faces similar charges.
