COMANCHE COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the victim and two suspects in a disturbing homicide investigation that involves multiple counties.
On Thursday, May 15, a person was discovered on fire along Highway 2823, near the borders of Comanche, Erath, and Hamilton Counties. Today, the body of Marcio Maridell Anderson, 41, from Copperas Cove, Texas, was identified as the victim in the incident in Comanche County.

Following an extensive investigation, authorities arrested Avery Eugene Stemmons, 21, and Karina Gonzales Barreto, 21, both from Killeen, Texas.
The arrests were made in York, Maine, on May 20, 2025, by local and federal law enforcement partners. The suspects have been extradited to Texas and are currently held at the Comanche County Jail.
Officials stated there is no threat to the public at this time. The investigation remains active and ongoing, with no further information available.
