Edward Cabrera

*This is a prediction*

The Miami Marlins have been linked to potentially trading one of their two high-profile pitchers in Edward Cabrera or Sandy Alcantara, this MLB offseason. None have been moved yet, but it can be expected that if the right deal comes around, one of them will be traded.

The Marlins need as much help as they can get, as they are coming off a 79-83 record, it is clear that they are not horrible, but need to make adjustments as a team to propel them further for the future. A way in which the Marlins can achieve this is by trading Edward Cabrera for immense assets in rerun.

The team that makes sense to trade for Edward Cabrera is the Baltimore Orioles.

Miami Marlins Trade Edward Cabrera to the Baltimore Orioles

The Baltimore Orioles have had an extremely busy offseason so far. They traded for Taylor Ward, and signed Pete Alonso, showing they are going all-in to turn the team around. They have made improvements to their offense, and even their pitching by signing Ryan Helsley, but that shouldn’t stop them from looking to make another addition to their pitching rotation.

Trading for a young talent like Edward Cabrera that can be a top-end starter would help further solidify the Orioles as contenders ahead of the 2026 season. Over five seasons with the Marlins, Cabrera has a 4.07 ERA, 1.309 WHIP, and 478 strikeouts. Just in the 2025 season, Cabrera had a, 8-7 record with a 3.53 ERA, 1.228 WHIP, and 150 strikeouts.

Edward Cabrera is just 27 years old, and with having shown constant improvement in each season so far, his upside is there to still be tapped into, giving the Orioles a starter at the top of their rotation that they can rely on and build around for the future.
