Last year, the Chicago White Sox traded star pitcher Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox and reaped quite a return, and one of the gems of the haul was catcher Kyle Teel.
A former top prospect in Boston, Teel went on to make his big-league debut for the White Sox in 2025, bursting on to the scene in June and slashing .273/.375/.411 with eight home runs and 35 RBI over 297 plate appearances.
Known more for his offense, Teel also flashed some pretty impressive defensive chops at times, particularly with his pitch framing.
Given that Chicago is in rebuilding mode, you would think Teel would be an integral part of the team moving forward, and yet, there have been reports that the Red Sox approached the White Sox about potentially re-acquiring Teel.
But fret not, fans of the Pale Hose; it doesn’t look like Teel is going anywhere.
The White Sox have shut down the Red Sox in Kyle Teel trade discussions

Just because the Red Sox have expressed interest in trading for Teel does not mean the White Sox are going to oblige.
Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon of The Athletic have revealed that Chicago has absolutely “no interest” in trading Teel and have “shut down every inquiry” for the 23-year-old backstop.
Wise decision by the White Sox.
Teel was the 32nd-ranked prospect in baseball by MLB.com entering 2025 and slashed .295/.394/.492 in 50 games at Triple-A Charlotte before being promoted to the show this past season.
The Ridgewood, N.J. native was originally select by Boston with the 14th overall pick of the 2023 MLB Draft and slashed .300/.401/.456 with 23 homers and 130 RBI throughout 188 games in the minor leagues between the Red Sox and the White Sox.
Teel is expected to be a critical part of Chicago’s roster next season and is under team control through 2031. The mere idea of trading him is silly.
