The Pirates have signed infielder Davis Wendzel to a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training, per Jon Heyman. He would earn $850,000 if in the majors.Â
Wendzel, 28, has spent most of his professional career on the left side of the infield and has a limited amount of major-league experience. He played in 27 big-league games with the Rangers in 2024, hitting .128 and striking out 12 times in 47 at-bats.Â
Wendzel played in 98 games in the Reds system last season, including 94 games with Class AAA Louisville. He hit .251 with a .779 OPS, 13 home runs and 53 RBIs at the AAA level.Â
