The Baltimore Orioles (16-32) face the Boston Red Sox (25-26) in the opener of a 4-game set Thursday. First pitch from Fenway Park is set for 6:45 p.m. ET (MLB Network). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s MLB odds around the Orioles vs. Red Sox odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Red Sox lead 2-1

The Orioles snapped an 8-game losing streak Wednesday with an 8-4 win in 11 innings at the Milwaukee Brewers. C Adley Rutschman hit his fifth homer of the year and drove in 3. He’s hitting just .213 with 14 RBIs on the season, which is partly why your eyes may have popped when you saw the O’s are 16-32 on the season.

The Red Sox dropped the finale against the New York Mets Wednesday to snap a string of 3 wins in 4 games. The Mets took Boston out 5-1 as it had just 6 hits and struck out 16 times. 3B Alex Bregman had the “Golden Sombrero” with 4 K’s, but he’s still having a revitalized season with a .297-11-35 line.

Red Sox 6, Orioles 5

I like the RED SOX (-130) at home here, despite having little faith in Giolito as he works his way back from Tommy John surgery. He has been tattooed for 6 ER in 2 of his last 3 starts. The O’s just seem lost and have already relieved their manager of his duties.

I’m keying in on Orioles CF Cedric Mullins here. He has hits in 4 straight, but he really licks his chops when he sees Giolito on the hill. Mullins is 8-for-13 (.615) with 4 extra-base hits lifetime against the righty. Give me CEDRIC MULLINS OVER 0.5 HITS (-145). You could take total bases, too, but it’s 5 cents more at -150.

The O’s are 7-3 O/U in their last 10, and Boston is 5-5. The Over hit in 2 of the first 3 meetings this season. Frankly, I’m a little surprised this number isn’t larger with these starters.

Take the OVER 8 (-120).
