San Francisco Giants sign ex-White Sox RHP Adrian Houser to 2-year, $22M deal. Recap his 2025 stats, career path and rotation fit in this MLB free agency update.
The San Francisco Giants have agreed to a two-year, $22 million contract with right-hander Adrian Houser, adding a ground-ball specialist to their pitching staff as they aim to contend in the NL West. The deal includes a club option for a third year, according to sources.
Houser, 32, spent the first half of 2025 with the Chicago White Sox after signing a minor league deal. He excelled in Chicago, posting a 2.10 ERA over 68.2 innings with a .661 opponent OPS and just three home runs allowed. Traded to the Tampa Bay Rays at the July deadline, his performance dipped to a 4.79 ERA in 56.1 innings, surrendering seven homers and a .767 OPS.
A nine-year MLB veteran, Houser broke in with the Milwaukee Brewers, where he compiled a 4.00 ERA across 129 appearances (97 starts) from 2015-23. Traded to the New York Mets ahead of 2024, he struggled in the rotation before shifting to relief and being released midseason. Brief minor league stints with the Chicago Cubs and Baltimore Orioles followed, but he did not reach the majors with either club.
For the Giants, who finished 81-81 last year, Houser provides cost-effective depth behind Logan Webb and Robbie Ray. His rebound potential could prove pivotal in a competitive NL West.
