*PREDICTION*

After another disappointing year in 2025, the San Francisco Giants let go of manager Bob Melvin. The team took a gamble, signing former University of Tennessee manager Tony Vitello to replace him.

The team is very excited about the potential of Vitello, but now the front office has to put the correct team around him. San Francisco wants to spend this offseason, but how they go about this remains to be seen.

With the Giants wanting to improve the roster this offseason, the team could go big-game hunting. While the team has been focused on adding pitching, if the opportunity to bring in a solid bat were to present itself, the Giants may jump at the chance.

However, the level of aggressiveness that the front office has to add this winter remains unknown, and there are always surprises to come from the offseason. But this team can’t afford to keep treading water in the National League, and something needs to change to help them contend going forward.

Bo Bichette Heads to San Francisco to Join Giants

One of the bigger names on the open market this winter is veteran infielder Bo Bichette of the Toronto Blue Jays. For much of the offseason, there was a thought that Bichette would simply return to Toronto, but that idea has cooled off in recent days.

Toronto has been focused on other areas of the roster, and Bichette could now look to head elsewhere for the next few years. The Giants could be the perfect landing spot for the veteran, especially with the team’s need for infield help.

Bichette has mainly been a shortstop during his career with the Blue Jays, but his camp has reportedly been telling teams that he is open to moving to second base. San Francisco could use a second baseman, and Bichette could be a massive pickup for this club moving forward.

After a down 2024 season, Bichette turned things completely around this year, and he is now set to earn a big contract in free agency. For the season, Bichette hit .311 with 18 home runs and 94 runs batted in over 139 games played.

Adding his bat to the lineup could help the Giants take that next step forward, and it would show that they could land one of the bigger free agents. San Francisco has tried to add major free agents in recent years, but the team has failed to make it happen.

However, Bichette could be the perfect fit for this team, and he would likely thrive playing in a hitter-friendly ballpark like Oracle Park. Bichette could see his numbers take a leap, and the Giants would easily become much more formidable.

Putting him next to Rafael Devers and Willy Adames in the lineup could give the Giants a lethal offensive attack, something that the team has lacked for years.  Overall, the Giants should invest in a player like Bichette, and if they were to do so, the postseason could be in their sights for the 2026 season.
